GAYLORD, MI – The Loon Golf Resort offers 36-holes of championship golf, two great restaurants, lodging for over 200 people and now more with the acquisition of what was formerly known as the Marsh Ridge Resort.

“The Ridge” joins The Loon and The Lakes courses giving it 54-holes in a three-mile circle near Gaylord to make The Loon Golf Resort an even more attractive destination in the heart of the Golf Mecca.

Renovation of lodging, including hotel-style rooms to town homes and a makeover of the restaurant previously named “Jac’s Place” into “The Summit at The Ridge” has been undertaken since December, and General Manager Matt Preuss said golfers can park their car and relax and enjoy their stay.

“Having three championship courses and the two restaurants within a few miles of each other, our guests can eat all three meals here, play three uniquely different golf courses and ride our complimentary shuttles busses from their rooms to their tee times,” he said. “People don’t have to contend with their clubs and pulling them in and out of cars. They can park, and we will take care of the rest.”

The Loon, a supportive member of the Gaylord Golf Mecca group of resort and golf destinations, will have a stronger profile with the combining of the facilities, but Preuss said the key part of the acquisition is that more golf customers will be exposed to the great customer service at The Loon Resort.

“The fundamentals of The Loon Golf Resort, how we have grown and had success breaks down to our people, our staff,” he said. “We have great offerings in golf, lodging and dining, but we also have a staff that is engaged and cares about our guests. All the feedback I get comes down to the fact our staff cares, and our repeat business by word of mouth has really helped us grow the last five years.”

The Ridge Golf Course is an original Mike Husby design, which is the same original designer of The Loon Golf Course, which underwent a redesign in 2011 by celebrated golf instructor Butch Harmon. The Ridge is shorter in length, including senior friendly tee positions, yet cut through the gorgeous hardwoods of the area with great vistas and significant elevation changes.

The Loon, of course, is a classic golf design and rolls naturally across the beautiful land the glaciers carved in the heart of Michigan long ago. The Lakes course offers the combination of beautiful trees and blue waters for a wonderful Up North vacation feel.

“We offer 54 holes with the three golf courses that are unique to each other and gives us a great, diverse offering in terms of a 54-hole golf package for our stay and play customers,” Preuss said.
