The renovations and improvements for The Lodge and The Inn at Treetops Resort, which started last fall after the resort secured a $4.5 million USDA loan, are progressing rapidly and clearly in full swing. Check out the resort’s blog: http://blog.treetops.com/

The golf, of course, is always in full swing at Treetops, which has four 18-hole championship courses designed by the likes of Robert Trent Jones Sr., Tom Fazio and Rick Smith, and of course the famous Threetops, an unparalleled nine-hole par 3 adventure that Smith created as well.
Don’t let a little construction deter golf plans. Many of the rooms have been completed so golfers can stay in clean, modern comfort and then play great hole after great hole of classic golf.

It’s hard to believe the Masterpiece by Jones has been taking the best shots of golfers for 30 years, but like a true champion it is still standing strong. It seems like only yesterday that a grand opening event of the Masterpiece kicked off a golf phenomenon that has become the Gaylord Golf Mecca, a truly superior golf vacation destination.

Jones, seated on a golf cart that day fielding questions, pointed at the many things that enamored him about the course and site. He, of course, coined the Treetops name when breathtaking views of treetops dominated his views from the higher elevations across the property.
Mecca treks that included Treetops and Masterpiece rounds have been happening since for golfers from around the country and a few faraway places, too. Golfers get drawn in, and then drawn back.

Fazio’s Premier, his first design in Michigan, is fun and genius in design. Smith’s Signature tests golf games in every way. Smith’s Tradition is perfectly traditional in a stunning way.

It’s golf season, and I’m drawn to return to Treetops.
